Excitement

I really don't get it how these weeks keep passing by so quick! It's Friday again!
And only two days to go and we get engaged. I'm so happy!
We've planned the party a lot and we did rent Lillukka for us. Next week I'll have to do all the cakes and all. Luckily I have Thursday free and then I have time to do the food and cleaning.
This weekend I should read for the virology, I'll have an exam about it next Tuesday.

And I have such a problem. I don't know how I will do my hair and makeup, no to even mention my clothes! I thought I'd curl my hair and leave it free and do dark eye makeup since the lip makeup will wear out while I'm drinking and eating. And I'll put my new skirt but I don't know which shirt I'll wear! Well, maybe I'll figure it out.

I'm waiting the reply from the University of Iowa. I keep thinking that they won't take me there and I don't get the exchange place! I hope I get the information about it next week. They said that we'd know it on the beginning of April. And it is it then! And I try not to think about it. I just get too excited.

And I got my Master's Thesis lab BOOK! It's black and so nice! I covered it and made a piece of paper on it so it is easier to see what it is. It's SO nice! I feel like I'm doing something important when I write something in it. Though I have my old notebook where I scribble my notes while working, another notebook for my self (because the lab book won't be mine, it will go to my university). And it's nicer to write all my doings neatly so that I can memorize what I've done easier. And speaking of it, I should go and update my nice lab book and cover my note book...

Up

She said for the first time that she knows she'll get over it.

And the exam was fine!

And I'm up too early if you think that it's Saturday morning!

And it's beautiful outside!

Happy Angry

Finally I can say it!

We are getting engaged!!

And what an effort it has been not to blurt it out! I have already said something like:
"We got a gift for... err... dishes..."
"Oh I almost said it but didn't"
"What are you doing on Eastern? We have... err... party"

I am big mouthed but I kept it as a secret! Of course our parents were the first ones to know and to get invitation. And we sent the cards for our friends last week. But I still have to say that I hope that not everyone is coming. We don´t have that big apartment. And if everyone was coming, it would be over 50 person in small room! Because the kittens must be in our bedroom so that people with allergies can be here and because someone of the guests are smoking and if people are drunk, they might not notice if a cat sneaks out to the balcony and fells down! We're living at seventh floor!
We are planning though to rent Lillukka, so the kitties would not be a problem and we could get more space. And Rentukka would be closer. But still planning. It would help if I could know who all are coming!

But some bad news too. One of by best and oldest friends and his boyfriend broke up! I was and still am so sad. But the guy was an idiot and he disgusts me! My friend had already suspected something. This guy had been partying since the late Fall and he didn't want to take her with him anymore. He didn't come home at nights but went to after parties. He didn't care her anymore as he used to care. I already then thought that this process would be so hard for her because they have an apartment together, most of their stuff are common and his mom is hers boss! And he already has a kind of place where to move in but she doesn't have.
Oh I cried so much after her call. I was playing like every Monday and went outside to talk to her and after a marathon call I cried to Tarmo so much that all got worried what had happened. And Vepa said that if I need to talk, I could talk to her. It was so sweet! I was sad but I was OK.
I called her every day and asked how she was. I was so proud of her (and still am) because she said she is sad and she still can't believe what had happened and she wouldn't like to leave him but she knows she has to. And she told me she is afraid that she can't let go. And I told her that I know she is strong! But still I was a bit worried if she couldn't let go. And even though I hated him for the grief he caused, I knew that this kind of things happen and it´s better to stop a relationship if people aren't happy in it anymore.
BUT last Monday I called her again and she was crying. She had read his messages from his cell phone and found like 200 messages from a girl! And he had sworn that there wasn't anyone else. Oh NOW I hate that guy! He had all the guts to get angry with her reading his messages! Yes, it is wrong but it was right in this situation! DAMN! I get all angry even thinking what happened.
He was explaining that it didn't mean anything for him and he was just laughing that girl with his friends. But the messages were from January to this day! JANUARY! FUCK!!!
GOD HE PISSES ME OFF!
HOW DOES HE DARE! HOW DOES HE DARE TO LIE IN A SUCH WAY! ARGH!

I can't write everything I think about this situation. But the point is that if I had been there I would've punched him. Or shaked him and yelled at him. I mean it. I'm not a violent person but I really got THAT angry. And still get angry when I think that. Did I already say it?

I don't know if they have already discussed about it and what has happened since because I tried to call her yesterday and she sent me a message saying she's too tired to talk about it. I said to her that she has to call me soon back. And promised that if she doesn't I will call. She hasn't called yet and if she doesn't call by tomorrow, I'll call. I need her to know that I care and that she can talk to me. I try not to judge anyone but can you blame me if I said something bad about him after last Monday?

But now I got all angry again so I'll change the subject.

It was funny today. There was a presentation in our department about a molecular biology corporation and the man in there thought that I had my own research group. It was so funny that I didn't correct him but kept talking like a real researcher. And it was real fun to act like a researcher! Even though I'm planning my own research and I'm going to try new things which haven't been tried before, I still don't think myself as a researcher. I'm just a student who can't do anything and who doesn't know anything. Even though people seem to assume that I know things, I think I don't. I've realized that the more I study the stupider I become and the less I know. I know, a common dilemma in science.

And back to the engagement thing. I'm kind of disappointed about the reactions we got when we told to our friends. We got few really nice reactions (and by this I mean the surprise it was meant to be). But most of people have only thanked about the invitation. Like the supposed this to happen? I don't know.

Tarmo got his new computer parts yesterday and he has been working on them since then (he did sleep at night though). He got even a "guru" friend here to help him today. And he's all smile. I can't help it but he's so cute when he gets this excited. And after his new machine is all ready, I get the old computer for playing. (Yes, I play games! The Sims 2 is quite addictive, my newest addiction is Civilization 4, though I play only at weekends.) But the problem is that we don't have an extra screen but Dad bought a new flat screen so I get his old one. What a coincidence!

I have a quite big sore bruise on my arm. I have no idea where it has become. And my back got jammed in the Monday sports. But it's already better. What else? I didn't menstruate last week like usual (no details about it). Anything else about my health? Muaha. Like the old peoples conversation.

I've been waking up quite early and have been able to read enough for the next exam about virology. Not that much to read which is nice. But it worries me because I think the course is easy, so I would suppose to get 5 from it (the best grade). And if I don't I get all disappointed on me again. I should write an essay for one course to get it through (no exam). And then I have still two laboratory courses this Spring. The other starts next week. It had a pre-exam and I believe (and hope) it went well.

But I think I have already written too much. How many of you read this this far?? Muaha.

Cell explosion

I already started a new post few days ago but I didn't have the time to finish it. And it was only few sentences.

I got some news today about the exchange! ISEP sent my application to The University of Iowa! I browsed their web pages three hours today. I've planned my courses, at least what I'm trying to take. I also found out where I'm going (hopefully) live. And some other information too. After three hours I finally found when I'm supposed to be in the USA. 13th August is The Day. But I have to go there few days earlier because that day is the final day. And Monday. I think I might leave Finland on Thursday or Friday. Depends on flights. Though I can't seek them yet because I'm not 110% sure they're going to get me. And I don't know if someone is coming to get me from the airport or where I'm going to live that weekend (at the resident houses already, in motel/hotel or someones place?). But I try not to think much about it yet. When I get to know if they take me, I get a boost and get all excited. And that's the time I can do all those things. As well as to get my insurance etc.
Still so much things to do.

We'll represent our poster tomorrow! And then the EM-course is over. On Monday I'll have a pre-exam about our next laboratory course which will begin a week after the exam. And I took Jonnas SH-SY5Y cells to be cultured again. We're going to test the methods with them which I'm going to use for my Masters Thesis with some fresher cells. And something really dangerous happened! Our lab master Pirjo gave us the cells because I wasn't sure where they are and how to handle the vessel. And one of the cell ampulles exploded!!! I scared so much! And I was really close. Luckily nothing happened for anyone. But there could have been some cancer cells, bacteria or viruses in that ampulle! And the DMSO isn't that safe either.

I'm not sure if I said this already but my first room mate ever (Silja) answered to my mail! And it really was she! It was so nice.

I bought a webcam yesterday and were in Tupperware party. Of course I can't afford to buy anything but it still was fun.

What else... Tuula came back and was (and still is) really tired. I try to not disturb her much. I've been trying to do all the things my self as I can. I found the antibodies for us to use and the secondary antibodies too. And found out where the cells are and so on.
And she wrote to Michael and asked if I and Tarmo could go there after my exchange period. And it's okay! So nice!

But I lost my thoughts again. I thought this spring would've been easy (well it is compared to last Fall) but I've spent 10 hours almost every day at the university! Today we were home at 7.30pm so I'm really tired.

I was supposed to say something else too but I forgot what it was.

Nice

It's been a while again. Nothing new I suppose. Tuula is in Biophysichs meeting in the USA so I've had plenty of time to read articles for my Master's Thesis. Though I did nothing for it in weekend and not much on Friday either. But today I read a lot.
Weekend was fun. Tomppeli had a party for his "new" home (don't know what tuparit is in English). We drank a lot and were drunken but it was so fun! We went to Rentukka and back at his place. We were home at four. And I didn't even have a bad hangover! My head ace a bit but not too much. And I felt tired but not too much. Enough to say to myself that I can't do anything. So we watched The Simpsons and ate (Chiang Mae-soup, my favourite!!!) and went to watch stupid movie to Apen (Snakes on a Plane). Movie sucked but it still was fun. If we had watched it just two of us, we would've bored but now there was more people to laugh with.

Elina and Me

Elina was there too. She's so cute.
And here is a pic of me and Tarmo (kind of cute too).

Love

So it was nice weekend. We were supposed to play role playing games today (as every Monday) but Tomppeli is sick (and he's the Gameleader for the game we're playing). So we're home. I was lazy last week and didn't go to gym in any day! I was supposed to go there on Monday but I didn't make it since I was planning the area I talked last time. And it was so nice again! The gym I mean.

But since I don't have nothing new, I'll stop now. I'll tell something nice when it's time. Muaha.

Oh, by the way, Spring is coming. It's warm and sun is shining (warmingly too!) and all the colors are bright and the birds are singing! So nice!

Bored again

Whoa. Nothing much happened. I got 4 from the bioinformatics test but the teacher said it will rise to the 5. Yes! I've started my masters thesis (4 pages some real stuff and 12 pages just outline). And I'm now official "thesis worker". And I should start the experiments next month! (Though not until half of the month) It's kind of exciting.
I got my TOEFL scores and it went ok.
I went to the Suomen Solubiologit Ry. (Finland's cell biologists) meeting on Friday and now I'm a member of the committee. Sira came there with me and we got all these great ideas for what we're going to do in our department for the Molecular Recognition people! A whole area with tables and chairs just for us and there will be some magazines and stuff. Oh I hope it's going to be great and that we get people excited. We already made up our slogan so that no-one can blame us: We're not responsible, we're just loud! Muaha!

I'm bored. Yesterday we just do some laundry nothing more and today we cleaned and Tarmo did (and still does) his calculations for some course and I read something for our presentation on the EM-course but I'm really not in the mood so now I just try to think something to do. Long enough sentence?

Jane and Juksu should come here tomorrow but Jane is now in Riga (will be back today) with Niina and she's sick. Jane I mean. And it's too bad if she's sick tomorrow too and they can't come here because I've been waiting it. But of course if she's sick they can't come. I don't want to get sick.

But I'm going to go and think something to do. Bored! But it's good to be bored sometimes. With that I have the energy to be really effective some other day.

ps. Something nice will happen.

Anyone seen my thoughts?

I kind of depressed just. I found my first roommate's old e-mail from my Thunderbird and decided to write to her. But her e-mail wasn't working anymore. So I felt down. But then I was smart and put her name in The Google (I knew that she lives in Helsinki and might teach in some school) and I found her (or someone named her) e-mail from some schools web sites. Now I just hope that she is she!

I saw a dream last night. I was in check-in. Going to USA. We talked about exchange yesterday in our course so it is maybe because of that that I had that dream.

So a new course (electron microscopy) begun on Monday. Yesterday. Yes. We're now in Tuesday, right? It's fun again and we have a nice group there working. Nice chatting all the time.

My thoughts are now somewhere far away and I really can't concentrate on anything.

We are supposed to go to do our (that is me and Reija) project to the bioinformatics course and I should do the last assignments for the lipid trafficking course. But all that will take too much time! I'll hope we could finish our project tomorrow and I could do the things for the traffic thing on Thursday and finish it on weekend so we could start to do this EM-courses things. I desided to do all the things in time this year so that I can concentrate in my pro gradu research too.

Ah but who can find my thoughts??? I've lost them. It took so much effort to even write this right.

Still cold

So, it was kind of cold today. But I put enough clothes on so I was fine. It was hard to bike (it just didn't go forward) but it was still better way to go to the university and back home. But I don't want to go outside anymore today. It was THAT cold.

But you never believe what our kitties had done during the night!! They had eaten my bananas! MY BANANAS! Actually they didn't eat them but they had peeled one of them (and the banana was still one nice banana) and the other had been bitten and played with. So I couldn't eat them anymore. But it was funny. I can't even imagine how they managed to peel the banana so cleanly!

And by the way, the kitties feel fine. They're just like before. No more poor kitties.

And about last weekend. It was fun and I got so much out of it. Mostly we discussed about Heidi's work but we thought some things I would start to do too. And I surprised Jaska too. I didn't realize that it was the medical university we went (Jaska studies there) and while we were drinking coffee in he cafeteria I saw Jaska and went to say hello. And we saw again on Saturday when we went to the MM-Kyykkä. It was fun there too. We went there at 9 am and started to "celebrate" right away. I saw Riina there too and we hanged with her and her friends there. Then we found Jaska and hanged with him and his friends. And then me and Tarmo went to see my brother and his family and after that one of my friends had a party and we went there. And finally we were back at my parents house at midnight.

Me and Riina
Tarmo and me

Some doctor guys (Jaska behind me) and me
(Can't remember the other two names)

And on Sunday we woke up early (we slept in the living room so the kitties were with us and got all wild at 7am). And we were back home at 4pm. And I learned all the 20 normal amino acids while sitting in the train (when we went and when we came back). And the test was on Tuesday (not on Monday as I thought). And it went well. And I got 4 of the neurobiology exam!
I'm starting to be smart again. Maybe it's because I now have the time to study well.
I'll have another exam on Monday. And then I'll have a laboratory course (electron microscopy). I thought that it would be cool if me and my partner (Reija) could do some brain slices there (we'll do some specimens there, but not about the brain). So I went to the supervisor and asked if that could be possible. And it is! No-one in our university knows well how it should be done or what we should see in them but she said we can still try. How awesome! And Tuula praised my idea and the thing that I thought such a thing and went to ask about it. It after all is one aspect of my interests (not that I would do it necessarily in any point of my life) so it's really useful for me to know how these kind of specimens are done.
The only thing is, that because no-one knows about this issue, me and Reija have to do much more work for our things in that course. But I don't mind. At least now. Muaha.

But I have to go back to do dome research for one cource.

Cold!

Fuck! -35 degrees outside.

-35!

Pretty cold. Yesterday was only -25. Luckily we don't need to go until 10am to the university.

Overwhelmed

Wow. Soon I'll not understand what's happening in my life.

We'll be going to Tampere tomorrow morning to this lab to look some cells and to talk about what to do next. They'll teach me some things about cell culturing and we'll start thinking what I should do and what I could do so that my research would fill some missing things in their research. something. It will be interesting. This will be my first time in some one else's lab. Kind of excursion. Exiting!

AND, the BIG thing! We talked with Tuula about me going to Tennessee to Miki's lab to visit while I'm in the USA and the possibility that I could go to there after my USA studies for few weeks before I come back to Finland. And he had said yes. YES. YES! So, I'll be going there to do some little project for a few weeks. Then I asked (I fas half kidding) if Tuula would know someone in physics field there and she got all exited and looked right away if she knows someone from the Vanderbilt University when she goes to Biophysics meeting next March. She doesn't but she said she'll find and ask someone when she goes to the meeting.
So, Tarmo will be coming to the university to do something when I'm there. That's so GREAT! I'm so happy!

AND that's not all, folks. When (notice, WHEN) I'm going back there to do the research for my Ph.D. Tarmo can come too! He'll might come there to do something in the biophysics field (which has a lot to do with neuroscience). So happy!

He'll take some courses with me this spring (actually three) in biochemistry so he knows something in that field too.

Oh god I can't even say how excited I am! EXCITED! OH!

I couldn't even imagine anything like this. I'm on my third year in the university and I'm going to start my masters thesis soon, I'll go to visit someone else's labs and do some cooperation with someone who really knows things. And I already have a place where to go to do research. I can't understand this! I'm so overwhelmed.

But I'll tell something else too, though really shortly only.

SO, well go to Tampere. We'll take the kitties with us to my parents. On Saturday we'll go to look WM-contest in kyykkä and visit some friends. On Monday I'll have to know the 20 amino acids by names and by structure. And I did my maturity for my B.Sc. today. It went well.

Cats already better

I'm so relieved. Neko feels a lot better now. Pollo was already playing on the same day (night) the operation was but Neko was tired still yesterday. Pollo didn't get that Neko didn't want to play with him so we had to put Pollo in the bedroom few times to calm down so that Neko could be in peace. We played also yesterday in our house and Pollo came to sleep on my lap. Cutie. And boys played with him which was good, because Neko could sleep. We put a "socksuit" on Neko, which was first like a diaper because Neko took her front legs away from it. It protected her wound so she or Pollo wouldn't lick it too much.

Poor Neko and the "socksuit"

We put it back on her for the night. On the morning when we woke up (well actually when Pollo came to wake us up) Neko was still having the suit on her, but soon after she took it away. Tarmo thought I had taken it away and I thought Tarmo had taken it away. And now she is playing with Pollo, but luckily she's careful still. She doesn't lick her wound too much (I believe it's so clean and neatly done so she doesn't have to lick it all the time) and neither does Pollo. So we dare to keep her without the suit. But of course we keep our eyes on them all the time.

Here is a picture when they were still sleeping (when they tottered to the bathroom).

Catnest

We'll (hopefully) continue our yesterdays game in noon if Tomppeli just wakes up. He and Apen are allergic to our kitties and took drugs for it yesterday but still both got some symptoms at the evenoig (we had already played several hours no it's no wonder). We cleaned the house today so it would be easier to them to be here today. I still won't let the kitties to be alone too many hours. I have to keep my on them.

And I realized yesterday that I really was panicking on Friday. I forgot our laundry on the machine for the night (which I have never done before) and I forgot to get a packet from the Post office (and I've been waiting that packet for a week). Funny. I thought I was quite normal, only worried about the kitties. Maybe I just focused all my thoughts on them.

Poor babies

Oh my poor kitties! We were in the vet today and we sterilized both of them. And I could be watching the process! It was really nice! The vet told all the time what she was doing and what everything was and in the end she gave me the balls and ovary and some instruments so I could research them closely! So nice! But I didn't dare to watch and cut them too much because the room was needed. But everything went well. Neko threw up and was so ashamed before she fell asleep. Poor thing. And Pollo needed more drugs to fall asleep. And kicked the nurse when she tried to pull Pollo's hairs off from his balls. Muaha.

It took half an hour and we came home right away of course. They woke up for the first time only few moments ago. I heard a thump and run to watch witch of them had wakened. It was Neko and she was lying in the middle of the floor (I put the baskets in the bedroom and put a blanket on them so it would be warmer). I covered Neko with her blanket and Pollo started to wake up also. He started to totter away from the bedroom and I thought he had to pee so I took him to the bathroom. He just wanted to go to sleep in there (we have a floor warmup there) and Neko tried to go there too, so I lifted her too there and took her blanket under her and took Pollo's blanket too, which I put over the poor kitties. (Sentence long enough?)
Neko tried to get on my lap but fell asleep before she could get there. I stroke them for a while to be sure that they both fell asleep. My mother instincts woke up! Tarmo just laughed at me, but also looked me nicely. It felt good. He didn't think that I'm a lunatic women. Muaha! (I am.)

I tried to read for my next exam but I can't concentrate now, I have to watch the kitties. Luckily my table is in such a way so that I can see the kitties all the time. My poor babies <3

But some new information for me! First: I had to give a CV in English and a study plan for Tuula today so that she can put them in the Academy application and maybe get me some money! And reagents and maybe even equipment. And that study plan will also be my Master thesis plan!!! And now to the second thing: Some entrepreneur had called Tuula. He had read my candidate thesis from the internet (I put it in my web pages when it was finished) and was interested about it. His company (I assume so) makes pipes for the water and they had done some analysis what elements and in what concentrations they have found in different areas. And they said that Finland doesn't have any limits for manganese concentrations but WHO has put some limits. And Tuula said that he could be interested ME doing some tests with the manganese and he could pay something for me. And I could also use the information I get to my thesis. Which would be really grate!

But Pollo just woke up, threw up under Tarmo's desk and peed in the kitchen and finally fell asleep again under our chair (I stroke him so he calmed down). He's so poor thing!

TOEFL and other things

The TOEFL is over. It was harder than I expected but I believe it still went ok. I didn't first realize that the time was for the reading AND answering the questions so I was out of time when I had to answer but I was rushing and made it but I hadn't much time to think. And the speaking section was hard. There wasn't enough time to think what to say. I lost my thought in one question and mumbled. And I didn't understand some of the texts fully (they were considering history and business) and when I was supposed to listen and then speak I heard other people talking and it disturbed me. It was hard to concentrate when others were speaking and you could hear it and you should've been thinking what to say or write. But still I hope it went well enough. I always have after all exams my doubts but I quickly stop depressing my self and stop thinking such a things. Instead I start being disappointed in my self when I get results. Or proud. It works that way too.

So it was really quick visit in Helsinki. My mom came with me and we got some coffee after we arrived, I did the test (it really took the four hours), we went to pizza and left back to Tampere. The whole trip took almost 12 hours if one counts the traveling to the railwaystation too. I was tired after that. Especially my eyes were. They didn't have flat screens there so my eyes started hurting after the first hour. The screen kept flashing all the time. Not so nice. And as I already mentioned the headphones let all the voices in so I heard what other people were talking about. Moan moan moan. Just excuses if I fail it. But of course I don't think such a things. And of course I'll success. I hope.

On Wednesday we went to Ideapark and it was nice once again. Mom bought new book shelves and a bed for her. She has planned for a while new book shelves to their livingroom because she hates the ones they have now. And since dad and mom sleep now in different rooms and the bed she (used to be mine) doesn't fit for her back, she bought a traditional bed for herself. She already had a good mattress from the twinbed. And dad got a motorized bed from Olavi. His shoulder was operated last week so it's better for him. And mothers back doesn't like that bed either. It first felted odd that they sleep in different rooms but why not. They both snore BADLY and mom can always push dad to be quiet but if dad pushes mom, she wakes and gets angry and doesn't sleep anymore on that night. And dad still needs to go to work early on the morning so he really needs his sleep. And there was one sparse room left.
I felt how they had both slept better than for a while. They were happy. And dad haven't been drinking this year. Maybe he will keep his promise. It felt good to be there. They spoke to each other and joked around. It's amazing what good night sleep can do to people.

I came back home early. Tarmo had been drinking yesterday and I messed my thoughts and said I'd come half twelve but I meant I'd be in Jyväskylä 12.30. So he was in a hurry and was in the station an hour before I was there! I felt bad about it but he said it was ok, he had something to do there anyway and he had a ride from his friend since it was really cold and that the driver was also supposed to come to city anyway. He said that he knows that I'd start feeling bad and he knows that I didn't mean it. He said that he knows that I hate when people need to do thongs for me and I don't like to bother people. And a tear almost came to my eye when he said that. Once again I realized how well he knows me and how much I love him. And of course I told it to him.
And we had to walk to home. Tarmo didn't have his bike with him and my bikes lock had been frozen and I couldn't open it. We'll get it on Monday.

Ah, and on Tuesday we had a girls night again. It was fun as usual. We gossiped, healed the world and did all the other usual things.

And I got new shoes! Boots!!! They're really nice! I would've had my mothers brown shoes with heals (they didn't for for her) but I walked with them two hours in the Ideapark and my feet started to hurt so much that I almost couldn't walk. So we went to buy new ones (she promised she would've anyway got me new shoes). And I tried these boots I've always wanted to try but I've always doubted if I'd like them. And I love them! They look good on me and feel good! And they have heals! Not THE Heals but that kind of heals I can walk with. And they weren't expensive. I also found a new jacket. It's original price was 70€ but we got it in 15€! It's nice too.

Tarmo has a hangover and I feel sympathy hangover too. I'm tired and I don't feel like doing anything. Tomorrow I have to finish my application and on Monday I have to get some documents for it. And on Tuesday my courses will begin.

I believe I've written enough (if not too much) and I'm going to sleep.

But before that, here's a picture on our Pimp My Lab Team. Sira took this picture so I had to edit her to be in this too (I did it really quickly and I don't have a proper program to do it, sorry Sira!)

Riikka, Reija, Sira, Piia, Saara, Emilia and me
The Pimp My Lab Team

Muaha! I still need to tell why we have this Team. During our laboratory courses we've came up few ideas we'll do if we don't succeed in our own field. We'll start this enterprise and start to Pimp Labs. We are already started to develop the piko-pipette and we're thinking to start cooperation with Marimekko. We'll print their flower patterns on the objective glasses (so one can invidualize ones own things) and on the microscopes, of course. We have also developed a color coding for the pipettes (baby blue and pink for the smallest and adult colors for the biggest) and for the microscopes (if you roll this purple button it will do this and that, no-one has to learn difficult names for the microscope parts!). And these are only the few ideas we've come up with. SO THESE WERE OUR IDEAS, IF SOMEONE IS USING THEM BEFORE US, WE'LL SUE YOU!

Feelin' good

Uah. It's over. The neurobiology's exam was quite easy. But I'm not sure if I found everything crucial for the questions. Or if I picked up the right things. I really hope I did so. I also returned the book and went to x-ray my teeth. I'll have an appointment next week with the hygienist, she/he will take away my toothstones. And the same time she/he will say if my wisdom teeth will need something to do.

Yesterday it was snowing. A lot. I had some difficulties to go to school on the morning since I really couldn't ride a bike well since I had the book with me and the bag I was carrying it was so big that I had to keep it on the handlebar and it hit all the time to my knee. I bet I'll get huge bruises for that. And there was so much snow that it was hard to ride a bike even though there had been ploughed already. But it's really nice weather now. Sun is shining, it's white and few degrees below zero. And I feel fine since the exam is over and I can do the exchange applications and rehearse for the TOEFL (it's on Friday!). I just hope I can get to their webpages since they haven't been working so well... And maybe Tarmo would loan me his headphones so that it would be easier to practice.

But I'm now so hungry that I have to go to do something to eat (pasta with tuna) and then I'll start to write my personal statements and other exchange stuff. Tomorrow I'll go to some kind of course meeting (about courses I've already done a year ago) with a friend (who asked me to go to there) and on the evening we'll have a girls night! We'll eat and gossip and have fun. Though I can't go to bar, I drunk my money already last Tuesday... And on Wednesday I'll go to Tampere and on Thursday I'll go to Ideapark with Mom (she said there could be some sales which means I can get new clothes and maybe new shoes!) and on Friday I'll go to Helsinki to the TOEFL test. Mom will come there with me too, so I have some company and she'll take my phones etc since one can't have them with you there! And we'll go to eat there and maybe shop more (the test takes about four hours so one really gets hungry there).

But now I'm really hungry. I feel like listening music loud, making food and enjoying the freedom I feel right now. Luckily my courses will start only just next week.

Inspiration

Still 50 pages to go. Though I really haven't learned anything from the last chapters but I know coarsely what's in them. Luckily I can have the book with me!

We went to pizza today. It was nice. Then we coated Tarmo's physics books. He could have done it by himself but it was easier end nicer to do it together. And I had nothing else to do anyway. We were supposed to clean today but I'm not inspired at all. Tomorrow we have to clean... There is dirt on the floor! The kitties spread it all over because I gave them grass. So they liked the dirt on it.

We're going to watch Babylon 5 tonight. I haven't ever seen them. And Tarmo has almost all the dvds.

I have to start to eat iron again. I've been tired all the time even though I sleep well.

I was in Bodycircuit with Dooris on Thursday and Saana was there too. It was so nice!

But I'm not inspired about anything right now and I can't keep my thoughts in my head.

Neck

My neck was like a hell two days ago. I woke up in the morning and I couldn't move. Everything hurt, even when Tarmo moved a bit. I put several liters of Mobilat there and treated it with cold and hot. When I went to sleep I took some painkillers so I could sleep. The next day it was already better. I still put Mobilat to it and treated it with hot and tried to stretch it to every direction. Yesterday evening we went to Rentukka and Dooris rubbed my shoulders and neck and now it's almost OK. It just pissed me off on Monday because there would have been Bodycircuit and I couldn't go there. But it's tomorrow again and I'll go there. Next week all the other sports will start too.
I have no idea why my neck went like that. Maybe I've been reading and watching Desperate Housewives too much.

So yesterday we went to Rentukka because it was Vepa's real birthday. I took cider, maybe more and got drunk. But not too much. I invented a really good way to keep me drinking in limits. After few ciders I bought also a glass of water when I bought new drink and didn't buy new one before I had drunk the water too. After the bar closed we came to our house and I stopped drinking. I listened Tomppeli and his problems. I'm happy it helped him to talk to someone. And Dooris bought some clothes from me I've been selling.

I ordered new clothes from H&M yesterday. I'll spend too much money on that but I haven't been buying new clothes for 5 years (if one doesn't count fleamarket clothes). And my drawer has been looking like a rainbow and all the clothes didn't fit me anymore. I've been dreaming long time that I'd have more harmonious clothes and I could wear almost anything with anything. And I'm going to work on that.

We're going to Vepa's and Jonne's house in a minute to play a game they started last Monday. I was supposed to be with it too since I didn't go to gym but I couldn't move anywhere so I stayed home. But I'll play today too.

It was nice to drink yesterday, I don't have hangover (thanks to my invention, muaha) but I feel like I really have been drinking. And now I can be another few months sober. Muaha.

Need to go.

Weekend

We had nice weekend. On Friday we had Vepa's birthday and on Saturday Halliz's birthday. Though there was boring so we came to our house to drink a glass of wine. Today was supposed to be Tomppeli's birthday but he's sick.

And Neko has a heat. I first wondered why she's so in need of affection and then I noticed she lifts her tail when I stroke her. Pollo did not get what was happening until today. He has tried to mate with her today, but luckily she doesn't allow him to do it. We have to watch them all the time. We are going to sterilize both of them in the end of this month. Hope that her heat will go over soon and that Pollo won't succeed. If it looks bad, we have to separate them in to different rooms and that won't be nice. Our bedroom is too small for a cat.

I went to barber on Friday and got myself bangs. I swore ten years ago that I won't do it never ever again since my mom always got it for me and I hated it. I've been secretly wishing it for a while now. But it's not a real bangs, it's that kind that I can get it to side and away from my eyes.

And Vepa cut my hair a bit more since the barber didn't do as much cutting as I hopes and I didn't realize it then. But I like my hair now.

I'm hungry so I'm going to eat food and watch Friends. I bought the 7th season for us.

And still 450 pages to go and a week time to read it.

New Year

Now, it's 2007. In case you didn't know that.

We had a nice party at Lillukka, a place we rented. We made food and some of it wasn't eaten (though there were almost ten eaters). After that we sang Singstars and Sami had bought a new game for it which had Finnish songs. I sang PMMP´s Pikkuveli and it was really nice. We sang a lot with Vepa and I even sang songs that don't fit to my voice. I can't sing songs that go too low. My voice doesn't reach there.
But still, I won't sing karaoke in front of too many people. I'm too ashamed.

Before

After

Actually there was two times more of them that it shows in here. (And the kettle was full.) And we spent two liters oil. Yum.

I was too slow to renew my book loan. So now i have to return my neurobiology book next week and I have the exam week after that! And I need the book there (since it can be with me). But I booked other book. The same book but from the main library. I hope I get that day before I have to return this book. I can have that book only two weeks but it's enough. Hope the person who has it now won't be asshole and keep it too long. Though one have to pay if one keeps the books over time but still it happens. Though not very often.
Still 700 pages to go.

I cleaned our toiled today, I washed it throughout. There was a lot of kitten hair there. I've always wondered where it all goes since we don't have kitten hair all over. I also washed the dishes (though I've said to Tarmo that my hands are in bad shape so I don't wash them eagerly). But there was a lot of them and Tarmo went to university today and I hate complaining so I put gloves and did them my self. And it's not that big deal. He vacuumed when he came home.

The kitties are so cute (yes, still). They always run under the bedspread and only one can is one big clump shivering. And when I read they always come to look me and purr and aww aww. But I'll go and do something if Tarmo would think something to do. I'm too tired to read anymore, maybe I'll play Sims. I'm too addicted to it.

After Christmas

Christmas was nice. I shopped with mom and helped with the food and cleaned the house. Last days in Tampere I saw some friends also. But it was a relief to come home. Though the kitties and Tarmo came a day after me, I enjoyed to be back home. If I had to live with parents again, I couldn't do it. A week is already enough. It's not that they do anything wrong or nothing like that. It just is like that.

And after being a day alone here I realized how nice it is to have our kitties. It is so nice that they come and purr and keep a bit noise. I felt alone but not when the kitties are home.
I came home on Tuesday night and on Wednesday I went shopping. I spent (too much) some money but I found few really nice shirts and a skirt. I also went to bank to get my new card (finally) and got my new passport. And fixed my shoe. Or the shoemaker did.
I've long dreamed to renew my closet. I have bought the last five years most of my clothes from the fleamarket and it surely looks like it. But it's going to change! Muaha!
I'm going to sell some of my clothes I don't wear next month when our university arranges a fleamarket. I've been there before. I hope to get some money from there so I could buy more clothes. Not rationale but I dream to do so.

I got my studying loan yesterday. It felt awful to get the loan but I had to do so. Otherwise I wouldn't afford to go to exhange.

Oh I've been too lazy or I'm just too slow reader. Still 900 pages to go. But I've read already 400. And two weeks time. I doubt that I don't have the time to read all the pages. But if I don't, I don't. I won't panic about it. I hope.

We rented a place where we'll spend our New Year's Eve. We'll do some spring rolls and sing singstars. And I have one bottle of white wine.

But I have to go to do something. Something. Just nothing.

Before christmas

I passed all the courses I had this year! Yeah!
And I've lost my mind with this exhange thing. ISEP was supposed to inform yesterday in which universities one can apply but there is still nothing! And today I finally got logged in in the TOEFL pages. I've been trying it for two weeks but their pages haven't been working quite right. But I confirmed myself that I really have that exam next month and finally watched the introduction video (I tried to look it yesterday but it didn't work). So now I just have to hope that the pages will accept my login information. Even though I wrote everything right, the pages said I had wrong password or name.

I'll go tomorrow to Tampere and will be there for one week. "On vacation". I have to read a bit there too. I started to read yesterday and have read already almost 150 pages. Luckily some of the issues are already familiar to me (basic cellbiology) so I know it already. So I don't need to read that like a new thing.

Tomorrow I'll do some laundry and clean this place and read a bit. And I have to go to bank and to get my passport images and maybe do the passport application. I already got Tuula and Elina to write me a reference.

Boys are playing some multiplayer game and I can hear everything they say. Boys are always boys. Swearing and laughing and when I got some glögi to Tarmo, he had to inform all the others I brought it to him. Muaha. Funny.

I had a dream last night that I was on my way to the airport. I had forgotten my biology dictionary home and felt bad about it. But I had remembered to take the neurobiology book (which isn't mine really).

The kitties are cute. Pollo slept an hour on my lap. The also played near me when I was reading and almost behaved. They always come to sit on my books and notes and try to play with my pens.

Oh I forgot. I was supposed to et my packbag. Well, maybe I'll get it now or tomorrow. I have time now so...

My thoughts aren't clear and I can't think anything so I'll go and get my bag.
